CONNECTIONS

GENERAL INFO

MULTIPLE AIRLINES - If your flights are on separate tickets, make sure you reserve enough time for baggage claim, possibly moving to another terminal, as well as the check-in and the security control.

MISSED CONNECTIONS - If you have missed a connecting flight due to delays go to your airline provider help desk as they will often move you to the next available flight.

CANCELLATIONS - If your flight has been cancelled go to your airline provider help desk to find out any alternative travel arrangements or compensations available to you. If there is no onward travel available on the same day, you can go to an alternative airline help desk to try and find a same day solution.

BAGGAGE

BAGGAGE

We recommend rods to be taken in a protective flight case (rod tube) and all other equipment and clothing in a large protective travel bag suitable for all terrain conditions.

Please remember a lot of fishing equipment is not allowed in hand luggage: hooked flies, hooks, scissors, pliers, snips, multi tools, any liquids, over regulation sizes and even fly lines / backing on or off reels are not accepted, Therefore we recommend all reels to be put in the hold bags. Empty reels are ok but must not be loaded even with backing.

SAS, Norwegian & Finnair require additional bags to be booked and paid for in advance or alternatively at the airport. Typically it is cheaper to book in advance online. Rod tubes will be put in as oversize bags but you will not charged for any extra costs on top of a standard baggage price.

HIRE CARS

GENERAL COSTS

FOOD & DRink

Local supermarkets include "COOP", "ICA" and "Willys" that supply all general items including alcohol up to 3.5% volume. All main towns have a number of restaurants and cafes as well as gas stations that offer basic snack items.

Sweden’s laws on alcohol prohibit general stores from selling drinks with more than 3.5% alcohol in, but light beers are available to buy from the supermarkets. If you would like to purchase other alcohol for your stay there is a specific off license alcohol store called “Systembolaget” where you can buy anything you may want, they have a large selection of Swedish and globally imported products available.

GENERAL COSTS

Estimated costs in Sweden would average around 50% more than other countries. The local currency is SEK Swedish Kroner however 99% of any purchases are all accepted via credit card. You may need cash for independent stores or individual services.

GRATUITIES

Tipping is not mandatory but we would recommend tipping your
guides / ghillie as you would on your home waters, if you are happy with the service they provide. It is roughly 10 / 11 SEK to £1 / €1 for your reference.

DISINFECT GEAR

DISINFECT EQUIPMENT

If you have the opportunity to disinfect all your equipment before and after travelling to Sweden then please do. We will have disinfecting equipment available to use at the lodge also. The Torne river system does have a history of GS (Gyrodactylus Salaris) the fish in the system are now immune to the disease but they are still carriers. So it is vitally important that you disinfect your equipment both before and after your trip. Please make use of our equipment at the lodge and again if you have the opportunity to disinfect at home before and after then please do.

MObILE RECEPTION

The majority of Swedish Lapland has good mobile phone / cell phone coverage but mainly and some cases only with “Telia” so it is worth checking with your provider if Telia is currently one of their partners for Sweden. We have good coverage for both phone reception and 4G. If you are able to get a good roaming plan for your trip you can easily use GPS navigation and make emergency calls from virtually everywhere, or it will not take long to acquire reception somewhere else.
